Arlene Foster suing Dr Christian

Apparently he tweeted that she was having an affair (without any proof), and the way he put it was a spiteful little jibe about her being a “sanctity of marriage preaching woman” adding “it always comes back to bite them on the arse”
Now I understand he might have an issue with her as I think she was against same sex marriage. But this man always strikes me as an arrogant twat and a nasty piece of work.

I tried to post the link but I’m such a technophobe! it’s on BBC news website

The man really doesn't know when to quit, does he?

teawamutu · 31/05/2021 11:16

This is one Daily Fail link I won't apologise for: www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9635121/TV-doctor-Christian-Jessen-faces-BANKRUPTCY-125k-libel-bill-Arlene-Foster-case.html#article-9635121

Over 3,000 comments and counting. Streisand Effect in action Grin

youvegottenminuteslynn · 31/05/2021 11:18

Surely he could sell one of his two £1m flats to fund the costs rather than going bankrupt? It says in the court docs that he owns two...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/05/2021 11:38

'Obviously, I deeply regret it, and if Arlene Foster says the claim in the tweet isn't true, then I'm sorry for causing her any hurt,' he said.

Clueless. The man is clueless. Look at that 'if', after all that's happened.

magicstar1 · 31/05/2021 11:40

I just can't get over him saying he hasn't been able to work for a year due to Covid. Hasn't the country been in need of doctors? Why couldn't he go and get a proper job and help out....or am I missing something?

TinselAngel · 31/05/2021 11:46

I wonder if he's even read the judgement given he's still claiming to have been staying at his parents.

SheldonesqueEstDansLaGalaxie · 31/05/2021 11:48

I got the same from my bully

‘If I caused her upset I apologise’

If. IF

Do you really think if it was an if it would have gone this far?

Folk who make allegations that they do not KNOW to be true or KNOW are untrue deserve to be hit where it hurts. Hard.

I wish all I’d been accused of was an affair.

Tibtom · 31/05/2021 11:50

It is a shame the Mail didn't read the judgement either - I am sure they would have loved it.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 31/05/2021 11:55

"I'm sorry if you felt that I..."

Right from the gaslighter manual!

IheartJKR · 31/05/2021 12:15

He still thinks he’s the victim here.
It’s like playing woke bingo listening to his wails.
Unfortunately there are many people who think he’s a nice man because he’s kind on the telly and that Arlene is that nasty religious nut who’s anti gay.

That’s what he’s hinting at in his crowdfunding page - though very carefully.

He has not learned anything.

iklboo · 31/05/2021 12:27

Hoi polloi are probably far too beneath him these days. He's far too used to being paid £150 per 30 min session to be up to his elbows in real, hard work.

Pinuporc · 31/05/2021 12:27

Series of events
CJ - tweets a lie about AF personal life
AF lawyers requests he removes it and threatens legal action
CJ refuses
As per threat, he is taken to court
AF wins
CJ "but I'm gay and I've done lots of good work for the LBTQ+ cause...."

He is totally within his rights to disagree with her politics (and plenty of people do) but he made a allegation about her personal life. Even if he had done that and taken down the tweet as soon as her lawyer got in touch, I would have had more respect. (And it may not have escalated) But now, I dont think being gay excuses him of thinking he is above the law! He made a libellous comment, was called out for it, and refused to take suitable action. I cant see how is backpeddling to make himself the victim in all this.

It slightly reminds me of the Katie Hopkins/Jack Monroe case.

I'm just reading the Daily Mail story now, and halfway down there's a survey ''Are you planning on selling a house in the next 12 months''.

😬

AntiSocialDistancer · 31/05/2021 12:51

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

It's not the trans thing. I only found out about the trans thing after I read nearly 40 pages of a judge ripping him apart.

It's his dismissal of forced marriage, which contributes to Niger being a country where 1 in 187 pregnant women and girls will die as a result of pregnancy/childbirth complications, and where women have a 1 in 7 chance of dying due to maternity complications during their lifetime.

Has anyone mentioned that the reason he's so virulently opposed to AF is because she has cultural reasons to oppose gay marriage.

But in another country far away, cultural reasons to heterosexually marry children is ok.

I didn't realise he continued to double down on his thoughts around legal paedophilia.

StellaAndCrow · 31/05/2021 13:01

He has no fucking idea how rich and privileged he is - he clearly has no idea how that sounds to most people "down to my last £20 000". Many many people would find that a life-changing amount of money to have.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 31/05/2021 13:04

AntiSocialDistancer

Truly excellent point!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 31/05/2021 13:13

3.5K comments on the DM article. I didn't read them all, but, I didn't see a single one saying they'd donate.

Good.

AntiSocialDistancer · 31/05/2021 13:16

Just looking at the 20k reference as well. An intelligent well educated celebrity has every chance of earning that money.

And a little bit of shame and humility would have made the amount of money he needed to pay much smaller.

I hear eating bugs in the jungle pays well.

This tweet is well, gah.

nauticant · 31/05/2021 13:17

That DM article is the kindest of kid gloves handling of the situation. I wonder why it's so gentle? Is it because of the mental health claims or because Jessen is a celeb and that's Mail Online's stock-in-trade?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/05/2021 13:20

It is, nauticant, but I reckon the DM knew what the comments would be like. The journalist didn't need to put the boot in and possibly needed to get CJ's approval of the article (do they do that?). 3.5k comments is a huge number.

nauticant · 31/05/2021 13:24

It won't have been the first time the DM have been that canny. I did click to see the top recommended comment and it was past 10,000 likes.

ArabellaScott · 31/05/2021 13:30

The DM know their audience. They can be very subtle, sometimes.

AlfonsoTheMango · 31/05/2021 13:32

Agreed. The DM knew that Jessen would hang himself and there was no need to give him more rope with which to do so.

ArabellaScott · 31/05/2021 13:40

Exhibit A - perhaps the first time I read a DM article that many of my leftie friends had furiously denounced, and thought - hold on.

Do be sure to scroll all the way down, not just stop at the opening 'angry holidaymakers' paras.

Violinist64 · 31/05/2021 14:03

Well done, Arlene Foster and the British justice system. She did not deserve the defamation of her character that Dr. Christian Jensen subjected her to and he got all he deserved. If he is short of money, as he claims, l agree with everyone who has said that he should sell one of his flats.
