Fasting / 5:2 diet

Which type of IF should I do?

Can y’all help me decide what type of intermittent fasting to do?

My current weight is 10 stone 7lbs. I’m 5”2 in height.

I’ve done 5:2 pre my second pregnancy and did really well on it, it was slow progress and required a lot of discipline to not be put off by the slow progress. However since then I keep failing. I’m only 5”2 in height and so my TDEE is quite low. If I have a takeaway even once a week it throws me out and I don’t lose.

My lifestyle is such that I do fall back on takeaways fairly often and I am working on reducing that.

I also find the 2 days of only 500-600 cals quite hard.

Alternatively I can do time restricted eating and have the same routine everyday which may be easier to follow due to consistency. I should see results, especially if I work up to OMAD. I think I would need to track calories if I did 20:4 or less.

Due to EDS and also since having Covid I do suffer from dysautonomia which can make fasting a little difficult, sometimes.

You do the one that works. You stop making excuses and you either eat properly or you do not, and if you do not, you go round and round on this cycle.

I'd say change the takeaways to a tin of tuna and handful of tomatoes and half an avocado. Good luck! You've done it once, you can do it again. When you decide to.

Thanks. You're right. I need to choose one method and then stick to it. Do you fast? What type do you do? I just need to choose the method that won't set me up to fail.

I do fast yes.

I just gave up breakfast when I read that peri women's metabolism lowers meaning the same old way of eating was going to result in weight gain.

So I just cut out breakfast. I then found fasting as a theory and read all about it and started pushing through a few more hours where I dont eat.

I then do eat, and try to focus on nutrients. So, a really good bowl of salad with meat, and gorgeous fruits like a whole punnet of raspberries or an apple and some cheese.

I'm naughty tho as can eat crisps for England!! That's my Achilles heel. But I weigh 9.5 stone at 5'4 and I'm slim and i do weights and trampolining. I wasn't ready to give up my looks you see. I chose to put the work in. You have to choose I think.

So what are you thinking??? I honestly encourage you to go without food for long enough that your body uses up the energy in your blood and then has to use your fat stores. Just watch the weight fall off.

I do this most days but when I'm chronically hungry I do eat.
