hi,
im going to be starting the fast 800 tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone has any experiences of it they want to share as would be a good motivator to start with…

im looking to lose about 3 stone in total.
how long did it take to lose the weight for you?

It improves my mood

I want to start but something keeps getting in the way! I did the blood sugar diet years ago and lost a lot of weight, I think I lost 21lbs in 8 weeks.

I have about 8/9lbs to lose now and I’d like to do that by the time I go on holiday which is very doable but I just need to actually start!

my plan is:
Greek yogurt and berries for breakfast
salad and chicken or tuna for lunch
meat plus green veg for dinner
maybe a protein shake if I workout.

i know the first few days/week will be really hard but I know it gets good results.

You might find it easier going for as long as possible in the morning before eating anything at all rather than having a small breakfast.

Me!! I did a 9 day fast / cleanse, using the fast 800 recipes (having about 600 cal per day) and I started the 800 today which is like a treat in comparison! I lost 4kg on the first 9 days. I think it'll slow down a bit now. I'm aiming for about 0.5-1kg per week. It's the first time I've lost proper weight for ages. I'm really enjoying the recipes.

namechange1230 · 03/06/2024 22:31

I've been doing Fast 800 for about 7 weeks. I lost a stone in the first 3 weeks. I've lost 20lb in total so far. I'd like to lose another stone ideally.

SW - 12st 12lb
CW - 11st 6lb
GW - 10st 7lb ish

I'm 5ft 8in - 45 yo

I've found it quite easy TBH. Losing the first stone has been very motivating and I feel like my goal weight is achievable. Good luck 😊

I am supposed to be on week 8... this is not happening for a number of reasons! Too much cooking. Endless food prep. Starving all the time... so it's a no from me.

andfinally10 · 03/06/2024 23:08

Hi, I just started (again) today. I lost a lot of weight about 8 years ago on the 800 diet.... but gradually it's all piled on again. It's taken a while to go on and in that time I've hit the menopause and the weight just isn't bouncing off as quick as I'd like. But I know the plan works... or it worked before so I'm hoping I can get my head down and do it again.
I'm 11.6 today and would like to be 9.7 one day, but in between I'd love a stone off by late July when I go on holiday. Am hoping that a stone off by then isn't hopelessly unrealistic.
I just can't take another summer where I feel really uncomfortable, hot and self conscious. I'm also cross that for 6 months I've been trying to get my head in the right mindset but failing week after week and now here I am with only 7 weeks until I go away. Again! Grr. Anyway, hopefully posting here will help keep me on the straight and narrow!

I have been trying many things since Feb. Only unprocessed foods (ie. Cutting choc, biscuits, crisps, chips - which I ate a lot of) but v little weight loss. Then I cut gluten and processed sugar. Minor weight loss yet difficult for me to do - I love bread. . No reward for the pain. This wasn't easy initially but the weight loss has been so worth it! I have 2 Fast 800 recipe books. I'm eating 2 proper meals a day. Fasting 7pm to 1pm. After reading the Fast 800 book, I realise the reason I didn't lose much weight before, despite considerable sacrifice, was because I was still eating lots of white foods (rice, pasta, potatoes) and sweet stuff, albeit sweetened with honey.

ducktape · 04/06/2024 06:05

I followed the 2 meals a day very low carb menu and lost 10kg/22lb over 12 weeks. I have struggled with eating too much all my life and didn't find this difficult. However, now I'm on 3:4 phase and have started eating some carbs I'm finding it much harder!

Ok all social things are done at least for now, so I’m starting today! I feel weirdly apprehensive about it. It’s my office day today which should help in that I can make my lunch and not have anything else during the day but I do find I don’t drink enough when I’m there and I come home starving.
Nothing really to stop me though so I am just going to make sure I drink loads.

i might try the two meals tip, thanks @budnode I do like breakfast though so as I wfh 4 days a week I might just have my yogurt and berries as lunch and skip the salad 🤣

I haven’t done any exercise for over a week except walking and gardening- normally I run and do YouTube workouts strength training. We went away last week and I gave myself a week off. So I need to pick that back up this week- it’s so easy to enjoy not running!!

good luck everyone starting or continuing today!

Did you start off starving? I'm not hungry. I was at the beginning of 600 cal but I'm OK now. I had 13kg to lose (I think that's about 2 stone) so made some inroads. Also I'm perimenopause so it was a constant losing battle (when I bothered fighting it). Some meals are v quick like my new fav smoked mackerel omelette with spinach and mushrooms. I've also frozen a couple of meals which were for 6 (chilli and curry) so I just need to defrost this on busy days.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/06/2024 19:43

An ok day for me but I didn’t manage to stick to 800 cals, I ended up on around 1100 because I’d budgeted for chicken but I had pork steaks that needed used up. I am ok with that though as it’s still low for me plus I know these first few days are tricky.

I’ve cooked a huge tray of chicken breast which will be my lunch and dinner tomorrow, with salad.

IAmNotASheep · 04/06/2024 19:58

My dh tried this.
Very difficult as we are vegeterian and he hates tempeh.
Meals became very repetitive.

He now does 500calories two days a week instead with no carbs on those days. More sustainable.

andfinally10 · 04/06/2024 20:18

I'm on 809 calories ...
And I've been busy and on my feet all day but still came in from work and did a half hour workout.
But I need to keep the momentum up beyond 24 hours 😂 I'm all eager for a few days and then it's usually over by Thursday evening as I begin my dive down into the weekend. I really have to try and be more consistent. If I was as good as I am mon-weds I wouldn't weigh 11.6!
So for today I feel fine - a bit hungry but have had really good wholesome food, having a nice bath now. All is well. Taking this one day at a time!

Alainlechat · 05/06/2024 08:35

I started around the end of Feb and did it for 12 weeks (ignoring a couple of blips around Easter and a few days abroad). I went from 13:12 to around 11:12 in that time.

Now adding the calories to slow the weight loss but still get to my goal of 11:4. Into the healthy BMI for my height. I'm 54. I was 11:10 this morning.

Also added in exercise along the way.

Sorry OP just re read your opening post - you're asking for experiences rather than people on it wanting to join the thread 😬 Sorry, glossed over that.
My experiences from a few years ago is that it's easy and effective, don't have to think about too many rules so in that way it's good, for me. But you do actually have to do it - always the hard part. Plus it is pretty tough but some like tough - me being one of them. I'd rather a few hard rules with the knowledge that that makes it short, sharp and sweet. But 800 calls is low so it can feel tough to get into and some days are truly grim. Some days the hunger never passes and it's gruelling and.... you get the picture. But generally, for me, I like the feeling a couple days in, when I start to weirdly already feel lighter. When that stodgy feeling that I habitually live with goes and is replaced by lightness and the bit of hunger starts to feel good and like something is happening. I like all of that. I get clear headed and efficient at work and at home. I stop lying around on the sofa every night watching 2 hours of telly pouring glasses of wine and get cracking with some other task, albeit boring but necessary, like tidying my drawers or something.
Not every day! Some days I have the wine and the crisps and it goes to pot, but then you just crack on the next day and it's ok.
My pattern is black coffee and water til lunch (I skip breakfast), soup or salad for lunch with a lump of cheese or some chickpeas (am vegetarian) and an apple. Dinner is a more nourishing meal of the same type stuff. No snacks at all. Water only.
Weekend I'll have to loosen up a bit as enjoy my social life but am going to try not to derail the whole week!
