Fasting / 5:2 diet

Does IF have to be done every day??

This is a good question! I’d be interested whether it’s best for health or weight loss?

I do it 5 days a week and then relax on the weekend. I lost half a stone last week. But now I’ve put some of it back on over the weekend.

I last weighed 9st down from 9.5st.

I want to fast for health more… I find I eat better

I thought the point of 5:2 was that you do two restricted days and 5 days at TDEE calories?

IF is completely felxible. You can do it as and when.
Everyone does it every single day they go to sleep!
If you want some advice on it try watching Jason Fung on youtube, he makes it very accessible.

I'm not doing 5/2 I'm doing 16/8 every day so far, fasting from 8pm to 12midday, not a pound lost yet but I feel a lot less bloated and trousers fit better.

I tried 16:8 and it really didn't work for me sadly. I just ended up eating everything in a shorter window!

That sounds like it's working for you then. If your clothes fit better, and you feel healthier, then IF is working. Stop weighing yourself!

16/8 works for me.
I aim for every day but I have the occasional exception.
Strangely, I get hungrier, earlier on the days I don't follow the16/8 pattern.

Same here! If I have a day off I seem starving!

I do it every day, if I eat breakfast I’m staaaaaarving all day! I may eat a cooked “breakfast” at the weekend if DH and DS insist, but they don’t get up early so it’s more like brunch.
