Hi all, after years of too many takeaways, I’ve thrown myself into it over the last three weeks.

I am doing the 16:8 intermittent fasting plan, and have lost 7lbs so far. I’ve been taking ‘after’ pics each week to motivate myself. I know it’s early days, but I feel like I can see a difference already, OH can’t see it. Am I kidding myself? Before is on the left hand side. I have another 2st to lose so I know I’m in it for the long haul!

Week 5 weigh-in, 2.5lbs off, so 1.5lbs off a stone. Have upped my calories a bit as of this week to slow the rate a bit, and give me a bit more energy x

Well done! I've been doing 16:8 since January last year and today I hit the lowest I've weighed since last January after many ups and downs. I took a photo today to compare with the start of my weight loss journey. I don't want to hijack your post so thought I'd ask first if I could share? I've still got a long way to go but after looking at the photos today it's absolut proof this way of eating works.

So bottom left was end of 2021, middle photo was about 6 months into dieting and top left is today. It's definitely a way of life eating like this and I know its something I'll probably have to do forever!

Really interested to read that you still have tea or coffee! I can easily manage without food for 16+ hours, but I really need my coffee and can't face it without milk and a sugar.

I have one cup of tea or coffee (with milk and a sweetener my coffee) every day before I break my fast.

Ell done you! Unfortunately I’ve been eating just one meal a day since I came back from holiday and don’t think it’s made the slightest difference to me. That’s what happens in your 60s, girls! Take my advice do it now!

Great loss again and almost a stone in 5 weeks is amazing!

@Plump82 what an inspiration your pictures are!

Day two for me. Day one was pretty good! Let's see how I go on zzz

FannyCradocksDoughnut · 01/08/2023 06:00

Please can I join in too! I started doing the 16:8 fasting on 3rd July, I am 59 and I need to lose around 3 stone. I'm feeling encouraged that this actually seems do-able. I'm dropping around 1kg per week. Unfortunately one side effect that has happened is if I eat a very big meal I get unfortunate side effects (diarrhea and very bad griping etc) has anyone else had this?

LazJaz · 01/08/2023 19:38

so inspirational OP!
have just found out that a wedding I thought was months away is in 7 weeks and has a silly dress code I’m close to the biggest I’ve ever been.
I needed something to aim for (because my self esteem/future health hasn’t been working as a motivator so far- seeking treatment for depression) and a method - and I guess I just found that!

Has anyone doing 16:8 been while simultaneously using Konjak noodles/rice as a carb substitute?
I’m trying to think of ways to set myself up for success!

ill post here for accountability too I think!

I eat them. Make sure you really, really wash them as they absolutely stink.
