Fasting / 5:2 diet

48 hour fast once a week

I'm need of intervention and also doing cardio, walking and cycling.

I'm just interested to know if this is sustainable?

I don't find myself particularly hungry after the first day cooking dinner for kids.

Weight is coming off, goal is 9 stone but more than that to be healthy.

Not sure if this is extended fasting but wonder how others have found it/ if they've tried it?

Fasting itself can be an excellent way to lose weight. However, I found extended periods of fasting to do more harm than good. Especially combine with exertive exercise such as cycling. You're simply trying to burn energy that your body just does not have. This leads to all manner of things such as feeling faint, dizziness, fatigue, low mood etc etc. You'd be much better off eating a healthy diet coupled with exercise and the extra pounds will be gone in no time at all.

Personally I would split it and do 2 24hr fast over a week.

I think not eating anything at all for 48hrs would do more harm than good

As I understand it a 48 hour fast can be beneficial once in a while for cellular repair etcbut doing it once a week is far to frequent and will cause more fat storage if it is part of a regular weekly routine. A 24 hour fast weekly might be better or 48 hour every few weeks.
