16:8 and periods

I‘ve been doing 16:8 for about a month and have lost 2kg (I only have 5 to lose). It has been surprisingly easy. However, the past days I have felt REALLY hungry. To the point of breaking my fast early because I feel sick and faint. I just realised I am due on any day.

Part of me feels like I need to listen to my body and go easier for a few days. But I am worried about ruining any progress I have made. Or even falling off the wagon altogether.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I heard a podcast the other day with Dr Mindy Pelz, and she was saying that women should fast and exercise in line with their monthly cycle and that you shouldn't fast the week before your period. She reckons that in the first part of your cycle you can do much longer fasts. I'm peri menopausal and my periods are all over the place so not sure how I could apply it, but interesting nonetheless.

I've been doing this and found that the few days before my period I did need to eat slightly earlier. I tried to up my nutrients on those days as I felt quite low in energy. I'm fine again now.

Thanks for the replies, I will have a look at Dr Mindy Pelz. My period came on Friday and I was so hungry I ended up eating a lot more than I normally would over the weekend. So annoyed with myself. I don’t want that to happen every month!
