Returning to IF - is it going to work this time?

I started IF in Jan 2020. It was bloody brilliant. I lost a stone pretty quickly and my shape changed for the better. I kept it up for well over a year, which was particularly fab as it meant I didn't put on the lockdown pounds that lots of people did.
This year has been a bit of a disaster, with any attempt at IF going completely out of the window a few months ago. Id been half-arsed with it for ages before that though.
So, here I am, not quite where I was when I started but heading that way fast. So I been to get back on the horse.

My question is: am I likely to see the amazing results I had last time as quickly (or at all?). I'm also two years older and can feel peri so that seems against me too.

My plan is to start tomorrow, I just need to get myself a pack of green teabags and I'm good to go!

What are other's experiences of getting back on the IF horse after a serious break?

Hey :)

Im back to IF tomorrow. It generally doesnt work properly unless your also in calorie deficit aswell. Do you plan on counting calories? Also what hours do you do your fasting in? Xx

nomorecheeseforme · 02/01/2023 18:36

I didn't count calories at all last time, but clearly was in deficit as I lost weight. My usual window was 4-8pm but I worked up to that. I'm hoping to do that again.

Has anyone else got experience of restarting IF after a significant break?

How is it going @nomorecheeseforme? I’m going to give it a crack again after about 6 months of not sticking too.
I lost a stone or so with it towards the end of 2021. The last half of 2022 has been a shit show for various reasons and I’m a stress eater. I’ve put most of the weight back on. Could do with losing 2-3 stone ideally. I’ve had a run of poor health recently and I’m sure that the weight isn’t helping.

I generally did about 18:6. I liked that the kids didn’t really notice I was “dieting” as I’m generally the first to leave the house, so they don’t notice me missing breakfast. I stuck to our usual foods for lunch and dinner, but did find I was eating smaller portions after a bit.

i’ve been gently easing myself in this week by skipping breakfast, but haven’t been strict with evening snacks. staring tomorrow I’m back on it properly. Not looking forward to the headaches and rubbish feeling as by body realises Christmas is over!

i’m planning to start some more exercise. But trying to avoid my usual all or nothing type problems, so will do that gradually. Plan for the next few weeks is to get back to my usuals daily 5k dog walk as I’ve been too poorly for that recently.

hope you’re getting on well.

I'm getting back to it from today as I have come off track the last 6 months. I also need to keep an eye on calories and have no snacks at all for it to have much effect. But agree in that it fits with family life well.

Koalacuddles · 08/01/2023 11:05

Good luck @LakeWindermere . Ive not weighed myself since Christmas, so that will be my first hurdle tomorrow! Maybe it will shock me in to action !

Koalacuddles · 21/01/2023 19:06

Thought I’d come back to this and see how you’re getting on?
I’m down about 4lbs. Pretty pleased with that. Got back in to the habit of going 16 hours ish for my fast. Need to start working on having less crap during my eating windows next!

I've been unwell and lost my mojo. Back on it from yesterday though.
