Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Anyone else more bothered by feeling cold than hungry?

I am restarting 5:2 after having a lot of success with it post- baby. I notice that I by about mid morning I am absolutely freezing and this lasts all day. Hot drinks, layers, plug in oil heater- I use them all but am still chilled to the bone. It is much more bothersome than hunger!

Anyone else similar? I am a short (5'2") woman in my late 40s and only have about a stone to lose. I am wondering if it's common to others and if it is my age or sex?

It's because you need food.

Unhelpful reply above!

I also suffer with this, I find raising my body temperature sometimes only feels achievable with a hot bath or intense exercise! Which are not always practical.

I guess my only solution has been to accept this about myself and wear gilets under top jumper (get a nice thin one and no one will know it's there), and roll neck jumpers etc - basically I just dress cosy as poss. At home slipper booties work wonders vs just short slippers.

I empathise - sometimes I'm so cold by bedtime I sleep with jumpers on.

To be perfectly honest I don't know how medieval folk coped 😂

Most slim people I know suffer this, especially if you have a desk job. When I worked 'on my feet' it was way less of an issue. If you can get active intermittently during the day it will help x

Thanks @Zillahhh, good to know I am not alone. I have a desk job and am working from home in the pandemic so the sitting for long periods is a problem. Yesterday I got up midday and did the recycling and washing up just to warm up! It worked though in addition to my many layers and the oil heater. I also go to bed with a jumper and socks on!

I have also wondered how I would have coped in medieval times. Although I probably would not be sitting at a desk 8-10 hours a day!

Good luck with your fasting.
