Weight plateau on 16:8

I've been doing 16:8 for 10 weeks or so and have steadily been losing 1lb every week. I'm thrilled as nothing has ever worked before. I generally have black coffee for breakfast, a light lunch and then a protein with veg/carbs for tea.

I've recently plateaued a bit, which i put down to my monthly cycle, but it's been three weeks now with no weight loss.

Is this normal? I'm happy to continue and don't want to introduce further restrictions. Am hoping it will be a phase that passes perhaps.

Has anyone encountered similar? I am at the very top of healthy BMI and would like to move more towards the middle of the healthy range.

Yea it's totally normal and is a good sign as your body is readjusting to a new "set weight",
Lots of info on the internet,
I mistakingly started eating more calories to see if I could kick my metabolism into action which resulted in weight gain so keep going and you will see a drop in the near futureSmile

Am doing IF. Agree that you probably will see more movement if you’re patient but would you consider adjusting your fasting time and trying 18:6 or even 20:4? Doesn’t have to be everyday but can help to move the scale if you change things up a bit. I didn’t find it as hard as I thought to increase my fasting time and has helped with the weight loss.

Thanks both. I've had a rummage around the Internet, and whilst there are a lot of articles about it, I've not seen any proper peer-reviewed evidence about IF and plateaus. Will keep looking.

I'm finding it easier to increase my fasting times, even managed a 19 hour one last week so was hopeful this might have been enough. I'm pretty sure if I stop i'll just pile it all on again quickly, and I genuinely do eat less. Will keep going!

Look up the book, obesity code... That explains the plateau, set weight etc.
