Hello,

Is anyone doing 16:8 and also counting calories? Roughly what sort of calories are you having on an average day? I’m doing 16:8 or 18:6 and generally between 1200-1400 as a rough average (also doing c25k and some strength training/weights). Any advice? So far it’s sustainable have done 4 weeks but I’m thinking ahead to higher cal food at xmas wondering if I could still lose?

If you up your calories over Christmas you will gain weight. It's not the end of the world. Just restart your diet as soon as possible.
Your calorie intake at the moment seems high to me. How much weight have you lost over what period?

ListeningQuietly · 16/11/2020 18:27

What is your TDEE?

and have you tried accurately measuring your calories for a couple of days to be sure your estimates are correct?
remember never to add back exercise calories

iamruth · 16/11/2020 18:27

I’ve lost 11lb in 4 weeks

According to my fitness pal my target calories are 1410 and I am not eating back exercise calories

Target calories take into account weight loss ....

what is your current sedentary TDEE ?

it matters because it will tell you how sustainable your eating pattern is

what will your sedentary TDEE be at your happy weight
and what will it be in 5 years time

as with those numbers you can mentally work out how you'll need to eat for the rest of your life

iamruth · 16/11/2020 18:38

Yes, this makes sense

Current sedentary TDEE is 2020 (ironically), if I was at target now it would be 1721.
5 years time (at goal weight) gives me 1697 according to the calculator online.

Can I join for support, I currently follow 16/8 but not really calorie counting, I haven’t had any refined sugar for 2 months although still eat a fair amount of carbs but no bread (part from soda) or pasta, I think I’m losing weight very slowly, certainly feel a lot better for it. I did a stop the sugar plan which teaches you to eat foods to nourish your body and forget about dieting.........so I’m doing this along side 16/8, I don’t feel like sugar anymore and when I’m sure I’m done with it I will cut back on other carbs if I haven’t lost the half a stone I would like gone.

It would be worth doing really thorough MFP for a couple of days to make sure your estimates are right.

fastforward
The ideal speed to lose weight is around 1lb a week - as that translates into 4 stone in a year Grin

and done steadily with the lifestyle changes
you only need to do it once Wink

@ListeningQuietly that’s what I’m hoping, fed up with yo-yo dieting, done slimming world. The 16/8 & no sugar suits cause once I start I can’t stop!
