Hi everyone

I’m new to the 16.8 diet albeit only been on it a week but I’ve actually gained 2lb!! I lost almost a stone with slimming world at the start of the year but I’ve put it all back on and quick.

I’m now at my heaviest ever weight of 13st 11.

I haven’t been over indulging during the eating window.. I’ve been snacking on rice cakes my lunch is typically a low fat soup and my dinner is a chicken salad..

Not sure where I am going wrong ??

do you think you aren't eating enough? I'm the same weight and I'm despairing too

bridgetreilly · 28/11/2019 23:05

Are you eating low carb? Intermittent fasting on its own doesn't really do anything much for most people.

DownUdderer · 30/11/2019 03:43

Yes, go low carb

GrumpyHoonMain · 30/11/2019 04:21

How many calories are you eating? Most rice cakes are 40-50 cals a pop, so if you eat 10 then you’re eating 400 -500 calories - you might as well have a meal / sandwich / burger.

It takes me about 3 weeks to start seeing a difference when dieting. I have also just started 16.8 and its starting to shift now.

Fredy45 · 11/12/2019 07:36

Another who wasn't seen any movement yet. I eat between 12ish and 8ish mostly. Finding it totally fine. I do have one tea with milk in that period though. Doing it for 3 weeks and literally not a sausage of movement. Don't feel better for it either. 11 13 and want to get to 10 7 (even 10 something would be ok....)

Definitely not overdoing it in the eating window. Small lunch (salad, soup) bit of fruit, normal but healthy dinner and a small (less than 200 cal) pud of some sort. I count up my cals and it's around 1200 per day. And I run 3 days a week and get 10k steps everyday too so lightly active.

Not sure whether it's not for me or not. Will continue til Jan then reassess. I know I could cut out the pudding but ffs life needs a bit of joy and dh will only have sex so much......

Try a couple more weeks but eating low carb (no rice cakes). No alcohol. Recipe ideas on Diet Doctor website. See what the scales say after 2 weeks of that. I'd expect 7-10lb difference based on my experience. Depends on how much you have to lose of course.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/12/2019 09:28

Have you heard of the whoosh effect? Sometimes apparently it comes off after a few weeks due to water in fat cells, maybe also see if inches off the waist as well.

Bluntness100 · 11/12/2019 09:31

Do you know how many calories you're eating? If you're not low curbing then it's going to come down to that. You need to do the maths, include your drinks and be honest. Average it over a week.

If you're not loosing weight it would indicate you're eating enough to maintain and don't have a deficit.

Why did you stop slimming world.
It isn't supposed to be a 'diet'. It is supposed to teach you a healthier relationship with food.

I think you are getting things a bit wrong . The 16:8 fasting diet is not like any other . It takes more than a week to notice a difference . The beauty of it is no calories counting some people do low carb for faster weight loss . When you are fasting do a clean fast no sugar or sweeetner in tea no gum no milk black tea or coffee or water . And when you eat eat properly . A chicken salad with low calorie soup is not enough . For example I will eat dinner at 7:30pm and then nothing till midday the next day . Will drink a black coffee for breakfast then at 11:30 will have Greek yoghurt with fruit and then have dinner which will be anything pasta , rice etc . I haven’t weighed myself but I’m now a size 10 from size 14 . I will advice you to read delay don’t deny by Gin Stevens . And be patient it sometimes takes up to 4-6 weeks for anything to show cut out sugar as well
