Is fasting okay when TTC?

Hi all! :)

Started the 16:8 fast this week, enjoying it and already lost a couple of pounds! Although after doing more and more research on it I've read that it can mess with hormones that help you conceive a baby?

Does anyone know anymore about this because I can't seem to find a reliable source anywhere :(

I would also be willing to try the 5:2 diet too, but surely that has the same effect on female hormones?

Thanks in advance! Any advice or tips would be necessary as I have a couple of stone to drop :)

I asked this exact question about 6 weeks ago. Opinion was that it probably wouldn't make a difference to fertility. My view is that I want to get my bmi down to a healthy weight (I'm not far off) and that 16:8 is helping me get there. My cycles are quite long and a bit irregular anyway.

Oh and I do eat a little more eg a banana for a late breakfast when I'm in the 2ww.

I fell pregnant whilst on the 5:2- about 2 months in.

I believe fasting can lower your t3 so not great for those with thyroid problems (if underactive thyroid is an obstacle to conception). I don't think short-term fasting (16:8) has this affect though.
