I don't know much about this diet but want to give it a try in January. Any advice please especially for someone that doesn't eat meat.

Hi whostolethesocks

Great that you're about to try this WOL - I've been doing it for almost 4 years, now, 3 years maintaining my weight after losing 24lbs. Just had the fourth Xmas in a row where my weight has stayed the same from beginning to (well, not quite) the end! Grin

First off, let me tell you that non-meat eaters have a distinct advantage on this WOL. (It's not a diet, BTW, weight-loss is merely a very useful side-effect! Smile)

I'm a vegan, and veggie/vegans already know all about the low-cal advantages of veggies. My record for a low-cal veg curry - which left me stuffed - was 75 cals!

That recipe is one of a couple of hundred 5:2 recipes here on this thread:

To really get the best out of this WOL, you need to come and join us on the main thread - you'll find the support and friendship on there second to none!

Hello, I'm new too, and also a non meat-eater, though I do eat fish.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by the main thread tbh - it's so long!! Would you just start at the beginning and work through?

I did my first fast day on Monday. It was ok, but I struggled to sleep a bit afterwards.

Have tried to eat normally but healthily today and yesterday. The next fast day is tomorrow. Not really looking forward to it...

Bb, there's a new thread just started - be a great time to jump in. We always get a few newcomers joining with a new thread, so you won't be on your own. In any case, we've had quite a few over the last few days.

The best thing you can do would be to read the OP in the thread - it's chock full of info and tells you everything you need to know. The second thing would be to watch the Horizon programme - that's very inspirational!

Good luck - and see you over there!

Brokenbiscuit · 06/01/2016 23:15

Thank you Breadandwine, that's really helpful. I'll head over to the new thread!

whostolethesocks · 08/01/2016 20:18

I will too. I felt the same. I was looking for some good recipes but had to read through all the thread. By the way Bread and Wine could you pass on your low calorie veggie curry recipe?

Hi socks

Here it is.

But there's also a wealth of low-cal recipes on our 5:2 recipe thread.
