Hi everyone, i follow a low carb and high fat diet and it works really well for me, i have lost 2 stone in a year but still have 4st to go - big sigh!

I am finding my weight loss has slowed right down and i am keen to try 5:2 to see if i can get things moving in the right direction again. Also i am impressed by the health benefits.

I have a few questions if anyone can help.....

Can i fast from one dinner time to another? - so 6pm until 6pm, meaning i am asleep for part of the fast? Or do i have to do breakfast to breakfast?

If i fast from dinner to dinner -do i have my 500kcals during the day or do i have them for dinner and then dont eat again until morning?

My rough plan was to eat dinner at 6pm then next day have 2 BPCs ( coffee mixed with butter and coconut oil aprox 500kcals) and then eat a normal dinner again at 6pm - would this work?

Thanks in advance

The fast day should be a full day so for example normal dinner at 6pm on Monday evening, then 500 kcal in total on Tuesday, and then a normal breakfast on Wednesday.

So if you want to only eat once at dinner time on the fast day (in my above example, Tuesday) then that meal should be max 500 kcal.

I hope that makes sense. Smile

If your BPCs total 500 cals and you want them on an FD, then they would be the only calories you could have all that day, in fact for about 36 hours.
So, it would be :
normal day and go to bed
then next day is FD with 500 cals, go to bed
wake up the next day and eat normally again

Quite a few low carbers have used 5:2 after they slowed down on LC alone

Thanks for clearing that up for me, so its 500kcal in 36 hrs - last meal sunday eve 6pm then 500kcals during monday and then back to normal eating tuesday morning. I have been doing it wrong but will try again on monday - thanks.
