The amount you eat on NFDs

Im not sure that this warrants being on the main thread so have posted separately.

Ive only just started 5:2 admittedly (am on my second fast day) but have started using MFP to log foods on non-fast days. So far ive logged 2 days and found on both days that Ive eaten around about the amount of calories that MFP says I need to maintain my current weight. It says I need 1800ish and that's what im eating.

I am a bit shocked by this. I eat like a horse in my own opinion and was certain that id been over-consuming by probably several hundred calories per day. When I think about it a bit more, it does make sense as although I need to lose a bit of weight I gained whilst pregnant, I am not continuously gaining weight so therefore must be eating the amount it takes to maintain.

Just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation where they have assumed that they were over-eating and found that actually they weren't?

Ha! Err no... Well I can eat perfectly most days staying around my tdee, but come the weekend or if I have a glass or two of something then it all goes to pot and I can easily go over by 1000 calories!
So following 5:2 and eating in this way, I maintain. I lose weight when over the week I have 2 fast days, 3 days of very sensible eating where I am usually under tdee, and then a couple of days of 'whatever I like'!

Is your way of eating working for you? Sounds like you have it sussed.Smile

I'm hoping it works for me but you have just made me realise that maybe I should wait for the weekend before I claim to always eat the right amount!!!!

You probably eat the correct amount on weekdays and you've handled FDs very well so far, so that is at least 5 days sorted.
We have tactics to handle weekends, if you find yours are massive - you wouldn't be the first with this issue Grin

Basically sounds like you should be successful on 5:2
