I completed my first fast yesterday. it was quite hard but I'm pretty sure I can sustain it a couple of times a week except...

As the day progressed my head got more sore. I was drinking lots of water so not dehydrated. I took some paracetamol around dinner time but ive just woken up with a near migraine (I get them occasionally). Is this normal and will my body adjust?

I can handle the fasts but not the headaches.

help please!

should also have asked is there anything in particular I can eat on fast days to avoid headaches?

Some folk get headaches the first few FDs, until they adjust.
What usually helps:
. Eat a teaspoon of Marmite (direct from spoon) only 20 cals.Tthe B vita and minerals often help. Have it mid-morning and mid-afternoon, say.
. Drink lots of water. Start the day with a big glass and keep drinking.
. Hot drinks are fine too, just include any milk or suagr in the 500 cals
. If you've given up diet coke or coffee, you may have withdrawal symptoms. Resume your caffeine fix, not the time to give that up !

You can also ease your way into fasting: say 700 cals the first time, then gradually lower your cals on FDs.

Oh and on FDs, don't have fruit juice.
Also cut out or cut down starches.
This avoids insulin spikes which may cause hunger & headaches.
I found it best to avoid simple carbs like fruit or yoghurt and just eat protein and veg

I sometimes wake up feeling groggy after a FD, almost like a hangover, complete with headache. But it usually subsides after a large and very much enjoyed cup of tea!

I'm glad I found this, I tried to do the fast days twice, but ended up with two day migraines (I'm prone to them), will try again today.

MrsTripp fasting is not good for migraines and if you go on Marks Daily Apple, it's not recommended for suffers. They suggest doing a 14/10 which is apparently the best fast for Women.
