NFDs - what do you eat?

I'm looking for quick, simple, healthy and cheap recipes to make for me on NFDs. I have a 15mo DS, so anything which would be suitable for him would be a bonus.

Also, what snacks (if any) do people have on NFDs? I've bought some ryvitas and rice cakes. I plan to dip those and/or veg sticks in humous if I get peckish between meals.

TIA

It's best not to graze and snack, but to eat proper meals instead, so that you have longer gaps without food.
You just add say your hummus and veg sticks as the final course to a meal.

Thanks BigChoc.

Yday I had a breakfast of crumpets and 1/2 glass of OJ, homemade Cumberland pie with broccoli and peas for lunch, and a homemade very stir fry for tea. Couple of jumbo snack a jacks at around 5pm.

I drank water mostly, and had no snacks apart from an iced coffee (no cream). I didn't feel hungry at all, but MFP says I only had about 1300 kcals. Do I need to have more on NFDs or is that ok?

Sorry for the Qs but I am totally useless at dieting Confused

North No problem, ask anytime

The FDs provide the weekly calorie deficit to lose weight, so on NFDS you should eat about TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)

1300 cals would be an unusually low TDEE, so use the TDEE calculator to check what you need.
Your menu sounds like more than 1300 cals, but maybe you eat small portions.

If you want to speed up weight loss, try on 2-3 NFDs eating the TDEE for your goal weight, if this is much lower than your current weight.

Sorry, I'm hopeless at cooking Blush and I usually have to scrape the exploded remains of any attempts off the kitchen ceiling.

However, post on the main thread 47 where there are some expert cooks like Betsy, or cheap & cheerful like Tip, with B&W being a great vegan cook.

Thank you Smile I do usually have small portions, and the stir fry was only 50g if noodles, asparagus and broccoli with only a squirt of sauce.

I will use the calculator now, thanks Smile

Why thank you, BC!

InTheNorth, if you look through the 5:2 recipe thread you'll find many low calorie dishes for fast days (some of them mine). It's easy enough to convert these into NFD meals by adding higher calorie ingredients to the dish.

Extra kidney beans, for instance
Lentils
Potatoes
Pasta
Rice, etc.
