Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Newbie and need advice.

I'm starting the 5:2 diet shortly, by the end of the week (when the book arrives!). I had my son 5 months ago and need to lose at least 2.5 stone. My problem is snacking and comfort eating. I want to do this and am determined to make it work but wondered if anyone had any tips for a beginner!? Any help would be much appreciated! I feel very low about my weight and can't wait to start losing.
Thanks in advance Smile

You'll be fine.
Your best bet is to come and post on the big thread and the tide of optimism and support will sweep you along.

"Comfort eating" isn't really that if you think about it.
You feel down, so you eat, so you feel guilty, so you eat more etc etc

The day you break that loop - even for a few hours - the sense of empowerment is astounding.
Some have found that it helps to write down what you plan to snack on, and how many calories, before you take a bite of it.
That makes the logical part of your brain take over from the emotional.

But also, give yourself some leeway. Small babies and mummy tummies and this heat are a bummer of a combination.

Come and join the gang in the madhouse Grin
