Fasting / 5:2 diet

2nd fast day and I'm hungry already!

I did my first FD on Monday and doing my second of the week today as i can't fit it in any other time of the week. The first day was ok, it was doable! However i just woke up and I am starving ! How am I going to last until dinner time ?!

Is it easier if I just grin and bear it and save all my calories to dinner as having a little now will make me more hungry or shall I have something small now ?!

My DH has big problems with this, but he says that drinking lots of liquids helps him as it keeps him feeling at least a little bit full.

He has a huge mug and gets through an awful lot of tea during the day. If you do something like this you need to keep track of the amount of milk and sugar - if any - that you add to the drink.

DH started off with black tea but that really didn't do it for him, so went back to ordinary tea with a little bit of sugar and then just reduced the number of calories in the evening meal to take account of it.

It gets easier Candy. I have fasted today and just eaten my first meal. Lots of fizzy water and being busy helps.

I survived ! I had my dinner earlier around 5.30pm . It was tough and I thought about food literally all day! :D . My LO pureed foos suddenly looked so appetising! I had a few cups of green tea before then and that helped. Like the chewing gum and fizzy water idea! Will try that on my next fast day .

Does it get easier ?!

Well done for sticking it out CandyPop! I've been doing this WOE since 4 September 2012. The fasts for the first couple of weeks took a lot of willpower but they gradually got easier after that. I now often have fast days where I wonder what all the fuss is about because they are such a breeze. Of course I also have the occasional fast day which is a little on the excruciating side but that is very rare.

In times of stress I still find fasting hard. For example, I moved house three weeks ago and I found the stress for the two weeks either side of the move made it impossible for me to stick to a fast and I stuffed myself silly. (Gained 8lbs in 4 weeks, boooo!) But once the stress subsided I got right back to fasting and was really pleased to find that my body seemed to have remembered that fasting is no big deal and nothing to worry about. I've found all four fasts done so far pretty easy. (And I've lost 4.5lbs of that gain too, yeay!)

I'm on my 3 FD and though I felt hungry this morning (almost like I wouldn't be able to do it today) I had a small lunch and now I feel fine. Of course my old habits mean I COULD eat, choc, crisps, biscuits but the feeling of being in control - probably for the first time ever, makes me feel so good I know I can do it.

So my point (eventually!) OP is, keep focusing on the reason you're doing this and marvelling at how well you're doing it, it isn't easy and not everyone can manage - but you are and you will get to your goal.

I also have lots of water, tea and Diet Coke (I know the latter isn't recommended by some on this WOE but it feels like a massive treat to me!)

I'm v hungry today but was silly to use lots of cals up on 2 slices of Vogel bread this morning. Doesn't help that I'm annoyed about work issues so I feel like devouring bad food!

Hiya. This is my 5th fast and oddly the hardest so far. Thought about food tons! Should have fasted on a busier day I think. Or maybe I have worms? I was still hungry after tea!!! Prawn curry with veg
