I think that's about normal - I weighed myself after a fast day and had dropped 5lb, the following day 4.5 of them had come back Sad

It's definitely a diet which means you lose weight slowly from everything I read up on it - a pound a week if you are lucky!

frenchfancy · 01/06/2013 08:00

Sounds completely normal, 2lbs is a good loss. Best to weigh yourself just once a week, on the same day at the same time. If you weigh yourself the day after a fast you will be lighter than the day after a feed simply because of the weight of the food in your digestive system.

Weight loss is sustainable though, I'm down 29lbs and it is staying off.

Wow frenchfancy - can I ask how long you have been doing this to get such a great weight loss? I have done 5 fast days and weighed myself after the fifth one this morning. I have lost 5 1/4 lbs. I was really pleased (works out about 1lb a fast day) but after reading the above, it looks like it is maybe a false loss, or do you think that 1 or 2lbs a week is a reasonable expectation?

frenchfancy · 04/06/2013 11:14

Hi Mummy I started last September, reached goal about a month ago. I had Christmas and a holiday in between so loss is probably more like 35lbs overall.

Your loss isn't necessarily a false loss, just don't get disheartened if you bounce. This isn't like ww or slimming world where reaching your goal means the end, it is a lifetime change in the way we eat. I only wish I'd discovered it 20 years ago when I was last this weight, then I could have stayed there rather than spending 20 years being pudgy.

I lost 5lb in my first week, but I weigh on fast day mornings. I figure this allows me to see weight lost through fasting plus any damage made on the following nfds.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 04/06/2013 12:41

Thanks frenchfancy and Eagle. I won't weigh again until next week and will keep weighing after a fast day so that I am remaining consistent. I have a lot to lose - 4 stone to be at target - though i haven't been that weight since school and may just look haggard so I will reassess in a couple of stones time.

I know what you mean about wishing you had done this 20 years ago french. All the lovely summer clothes I have missed out on over that time. Still I have a few years in me yet before I have to wear beige.

frenchfancy · 04/06/2013 15:13

mummypig one NEVER has to wear beige.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 05/06/2013 11:17

Grin.

Sadly I have definitely missed my opportinity for micro shorts and bikinis, beige or otherwise , regardless how well this woe goes!

No you lose it slowly. When I was significantly overweight (14st 7lb) and had more to lose I shitted dropped about two pounds a week. I'm getting nearer to the business end now though and expect to slow up - maybe averaging 2-3lb a fortnight or so.

Agree with frenchfancy that a weekly weigh is best.

But is it just me, or are others finding that a day or so after your fast days you have a massive clean out?!

MummyPigsFatTummy · 05/06/2013 11:28

Ooh Eugenes - that sounds good (the weight loss rather than the clear out!). 2 - 3lbs a week would be perfect. I do have a LOT to lose.

EugenesAxe · 05/06/2013 13:53

Sorry MummyPigs - but I said 2-3lbs a fortnight. You don't want to go quicker than about 2lb a week, if you don't want to risk a massive spring back.

A lady I know lost bloody loads of weight; she was big. I thought she must have had a band it went so quickly. It seems not, because 3 or so years down the line (OK it took a while, but your aim must surely be never to return to those levels) she is even bigger than she used to be.

However if you have a lot to go, it should go at 2lbs a week to start with :)
