To have my tubes tied at 38

3 DC. I can't have any hormonal contraception due to migraines and now had the copper coil removed as now having problems with that. I've had enough of putting my body through contraceptives so right now we are researching NFP, catholic methods etc until I can get my tubes tied. We would rather not have anymore children but if it happened I wouldn't get rid. Anyone got experience of this?

I did mine when I was getting a laparoscopy for adhesions anyway. I have autoimmune diseases and requested that they snip not tie because I didn’t want any clips etc in my body. It’s incredibly liberating and I strongly recommend it!

You just need to be very sure you don’t want any more children. I had my tubes tied when I had my planned c-section with my first baby who was born 2 years ago just before I turned 44. I decided to get my tubes tied as I had 4 miscarriages in the 3 years leading up to my successful pregnancy and needed to take the future decision out of my hands if whether to try for another. It was the best decision for me as at now nearly 46 another pregnancy would be very risky and would likely lose the baby anyway due to my history and would just go through another load of sh1t basically. If I hadn’t had the procedure, I’d totally be agonising over whether to try for another (lots of people in my baby groups are having their second babies) and it’s a bit gutting that I can’t but I’ve basically saved myself years of hurt and disappointment and can focus on my little one I have. Not having to deal with and worry about birth control is a real bonus too 👍 just be very sure you are done with babies xx

We've talked about it, he hasn't really said yes or no yet! It is all a bit sudden.
