Time to come off the pill? Hormones and weight gain worry

I am 32 and been on the pill since I was 13! I was off it obviously when ttc and pregnancy. I did try to come off it a few years back, and I am not exaggerating, my rage was so bad I could have actually murdered someone so I got put back on it. (I did lose half a stone though)
I am on cerazette and it stops my period completely and makes me hold weight. It has stopped bad pms symptoms (still irritable, migraines and night sweats) and I'm not a raging lunatic BUT I am worried for my body not having a cycle and the fact I've been on this so long and I am seriously trying to be healthy and lose weight which isnt budging.
I'm not sexually active either...

do you think I should try coming off it? How long will it take for my body and hormones to settle? Are there other ways of balancing hormones? It isn't causing problems am I best to stay on it coming up to potentially peri menopaus?

Are you not advised to have a bleed every so often, to thin the endometrial layer?

I would come off it, I did after DH had a vasectomy and since discovered I do have some drive and motivation it’s just been choked by artificial hormones for years 🙈. I think it basically holds you in a weird pre-PMT state for years and years. It takes a long time to regulate after coming off it though, I felt a bit strange for quite a few weeks. The worst withdrawal symptom was vertigo. You’re a long time away from peri-menopause though if that’s what you’re implying!!

I was wondering what you'd decided Amb92

As you say you don't need it for contraception, I think coming off it seems like a sensible plan. It shouldn't take more than a couple of cycles for everything to settle down
