Ridiculous but - pregnancy risk from a wet dream?

Hello,

I feel like I should know the answer to this, but I recently got some bizarre information from our nurse and now feel like all my sex education is wrong!

I'm 13 months post partum and not on birth control. Husband is booked for a vasectomy. Currently we are just not having sex as our birth control, or doing anything else fun!

My husband has occasional wet dreams, around a couple of times a month. He's on his side of the bed, we're wearing pajamas but the nurse said there was a pregnancy risk from this?? I cannot see how, but its really freaked us out and is becoming really stressful.

In the same consultation, the nurse also told us you can't have the implant whilst breastfeeding (you can) and that there is no increased risk of breast cancer on the mini pill (there is a slight increase) so I think she is just wrong.

But its made us doubt ourselves and is causing a lot of grief and worry. Are we being ridiculous? Is there anyway of getting pregnant from your husband having a wet dream next to (but not touching) you??

Feel far too old to be asking this but this nurse has really freaked me out! Thanks in advance for any thoughts and sorry for asking such a stupid question!

Of course she is wrong. You also can't get pregnant from a loo seat.

Did this nurse actually qualify? I can't believe how incorrect and downright ridiculous this is.

I did think if she was right there would be a huge number of immaculate conceptions 😂

She used to be a midwife then retrained! I've wracked my brains thinking what I would have to do to get pregnant that way and honestly can't come up with anything but when someone medical tells you something I tend to trust them so it's put the seed of doubt in my mind!

How would the sperm leap from the bedsheets (where it probably quickly starts to seep into the material and dry out) and into your vagina?

Don't forget they first have to navigate his PJs. Quite some super sperm that can negotiate their way out of PJs, across a bed, past another pair of PJs and still have enough in the tank to locate a vulva, travel up a vagina, cross a uterus and find a fallopian tube. Even more amazing if they can achieve all that specifically in the OP's fertile window.

The nurse is bonkers, and why on earth was she asking about wet dreams anyway?

Unless he's having a wet dream right on top of your vagina you're perfectly safe. Even then Id think your odds of getting pregnant were pretty slim and more up their with a miracle, even if it was the type of miracle you dont want.
