How long for period to return after first depo injection?

I had the depo for the first time back in September, it ran out at the start of December and I still haven't had a period. Oddly I haven't bled at all since having the depo (even though no other contraception - mini pill, implant or normal pill has ever stopped my periods) I have done two pregnancy tests both negative, does it normally take this long for a period to return after having one dose?

Hello

It can take up to a year for your period to return back to normal after the injection. It took 9 months for me to get mine and conceive after just one shot of depo provera.

Good luck 😊

I had 3 injections and it took 6 months for my periodsto return afterwards. I had constant light bleeding when on the injections (the reason I stopped them). Then nothing for a full 6 months.

It seems very common and they should really warn people beforehand. I knew it could happen as had done a lot of research beforehand.
Good luck.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I actually ended up starting my period last week (so after 3 months) and have had very light bleeding for nearly a week now on and off. I am luckily not hoping to conceive so the lack of period doesn't bother me I was just worried something was wrong, it's such a shame the reason I had to stop is because I have gained so much weight (about 1.5 stone) on the depo. Apart from that it has been the best method of contraception for me!
