Contraceptive implant running out but huge wait list at drs!

Hoping someone may have some advice whilst I'm waiting to try and speak to a Dr about this. I have the nexplanon implant fitted and it is due for removal on 11th dec. I have just rung my drs about getting it removed and a new one fitted and have to call back on Mon to try and get to speak to a doctor for a contraceptive check before they can put me on the waiting list. I asked how long the waiting list was and they said 2.5 months! I would have rung ages ago to book had I realised! I had heard that the implant works for a little while after the removal date - has anyone any advice on this or been in a similar situation?
Thanks!

Is there a sexual health clinic near you?

FSRH guidance during the pandemic is that risk of pregnancy in the 4th year is tiny. but if you're worried just ask for the pill on top for a couple of months.

I am having issues getting my contraceptive implant removed! I have had non stop bleeding for about 3/4 months and it was due to be taken out in December. No clinic appointments and no waiting lists near me (Surrey).Have had to contact an out of area NHS service in London to see if they can do it. My sister has been on a waiting list since last August and has just been offered an appointment in March. I know it’s not exactly a life or death service but I’m so annoyed!!
