Period/Ovulation after stopping the pill - hoping to try for a family

I was hoping to get some advice/opinions/insights, obviously I know that to get professional advice I need to go to the doctors but wanted to speak to people who could relate.

I have been on the pill for around 12 years from a young age as I have very painful and heavy periods (I’m now 25). There has been mention of me having endometriosis but I wouldn’t know without an operation so I can’t say I do.

I decided that I wanted to come off the pill as I would love to start trying for a baby this year and felt like after 12 years I wanted it out of my system as I kept bleeding even without breaks.

I stopped my pill on 27th May and officially started my ‘withdrawal bleeding’ on 28th May which lasted till 3rd June. I did have intercourse on 27th,28th and 29th (unprotected). I took an ovulation test (bought some as I want to start keeping track on an app) on Tuesday and it was positive. I’ve been trying to look online but everything is confusing and can be hard to get your head round. Is it usual to ovulate so close to coming off the pill/finishing withdrawal bleeding? It had been off the pill for 11 days at this point.

This morning I started with brown discharge (sorry if tmi) which then turned slightly bloody. It isn’t a heavy flow like a period but doesn’t feel like just spotting. It is dark red/brown. All day I have had bad lower stomach cramps, like period pains and keep feeling sick. Could someone advise as to whether this happened to them after coming off birth control and in your opinion would you say that’s my first ‘natural period’ arriving? I’m just quite shocked as I didn’t expect another bleed this soon after stopping a week ago! 🤣 at this point I have been off my pill for 14 days in total.

Just wanted to see if anyone could help me as I am really new to all of this and it can be hard to wrap your head round.

Sorry for the lengthy post just wanted to make sure I covered everything, any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much 🤍

when I came off it did take a while to get into a ‘normal’ cycle.

i took the pill because my cycle was never really normal and was hard to track - we eventually decided we wanted to get pregnant so I stopped taking it. My periods were light and brown for a while before they went back to anything normal.

the other thing I want to mention is whilst most people say that you are ‘able to get pregnant the day you stop taking them’ this isn’t always the case.
I know not everyone is the same but I got my hopes up because loads of people told me if probably get pregnant really fast. I was super excited to start with but it did take us 3 years to get pregnant. I’m not saying this will be the same
for you but don’t be fooled like I was!
