Mirena coil at time of caesarian

Hello - I am completely fed up.

Has anyone any experience of prolonged/constant bleeding with the mirena? But the bleeding starting over a year after you had it fitted. Any solutions?

I had a mirena fitted at the time of my CS about 18 months ago.
I breast fed for 15 months, but since I reduced feeding, bleeding has returned. But instead of having a 7 day long heavy period every month like before, I bleed for 2.5 weeks a month and then 10 days of brown discharge and then the bleeding starts again. I am sick of it.
My GP gave me some cerelle to take on top to see if it stopped but it didn’t. I don’t really want to take the combined pill as I don’t want the clot risk (although no other risk factors and aged 39).
Family complete.
The thought of bleeding almost constantly is depressing, but it’s fairly light. The alternative is going back to heavy periods.
Decisions, decisions….

As you say your family is complete, OP, an endometrial ablation would be the obvious answer. The uterine lining is reduced by laser or microwave radiation, so the very thin remaining tissue produces either a very minimal menstrual bleed or none at all.
You could ask your GP for a gynae referral to discuss it.

Has the gp checked the placement of your coil? I had to have mine removed as one of the arms had snapped off (no idea how), and it was in the wrong place. Took a few investigations and a few months to get it removed. Had also suffered from extra bleeding.

Thanks for the replies.
The GP has referred me for a scan to check placement.
The threads are very long anyway as I had it put in at CS, so impossible to tell if threads are longer than usual.
I do wonder if it might have moved.
@Topbird29 did you have another fitted once the first was removed?
