Implant expiry they won't take it out

Hi my implant is about to expire and they have said that they wont take it out due to employees being redeployed due to covid and for me just to wait and take the pill in the mean time. Can anyone reassure me that this wont cause harm or have any issues?

Mine's expired too. Haven't worried about having it removed as assumed it wouldn't be a clinical priority. Can't imagine it'll do any harm.

I don't think it'll harm you.

Mines expired but I am able to get it out next month thankfully.

But from what I've read they're actually pretty effective for a year after the official expiry (so 4 years instead of 3) - although DH and I aren't trusting that. Just in case.

Have you asked at a sexual health clinic instead of gp?

Here's the covid guidance on extending the use of the implant

Mine was due to be removed in March 2020 and they cancelled the appointment. She said they phoned the manufacturer who said it's effective for an additional 12 months past the recommended removal date and won't cause any harm beyond that.

I had it removed in October 2020.
