Waiting for the NHS to operate on a cyst before IVF.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and wondered if anyone had any advice for me.
Me and my husband are trying to have a child through IVF, we've done all the paperwork and been to the IVF clinic but they've found an 8cm ovarian cyst which they need to be removed before we can commence the IVF treatment.
This was all over a year ago now, we've been waiting since then on the NHS for this procedure, obviously everything is severely delayed with the coronavirus but we haven't received anything from the NHS really, just after phoning them they tell us we're on the waiting list but they don't really have any idea of how long it would take. It would be great to even get a letter from them confirming we are actually on the waiting list but nothing.
As we've been waiting so long and there doesn't appear to be any end in site and we're quite worried about this cyst, 8cm sounds massive! We're considering having the cyst removed privately now but this is of course very expensive.
Does anyone have any advice?

I imagine COVID has delayed it as unfortunately it’s not classed as urgent or emergency surgery. If you can afford to go private I certainly would. I’ve had 2 cysts both 6.5cm and I would have paid privately for removal but mine luckily burst. I feel for you as cysts are so painful.

What have you been quoted? If you don't mind saying how old are you both? This would sway my decision but I would definately consider private if I had the funds unless age wasn't a major factor!
