How long for periods to resume?

After coming off the pill how long does it take for periods to resume? DD has been on it for 4 years and like many young women in lockdown it seems has decided to trial coming off.
Apparently it can take three months to re establish. Is this other people's experience?

I had my period straight after I stopped taking the pill

I stopped at the end of the pack. I had my withdrawal bleed as usual. Then about 4 weeks later, so when my next withdrawal bleed would have been, I got my first proper period.

I was on the pill for 10+ years. When I stopped taking it, it took close to a year for my periods to become regular (so one cycle would be 20 days, the next 36 etc...)

Ah. I'll tell DD not to panic then! I only took the pill for a couple of years back in the eighties, so am thoroughly out of date with what might or might not happen
