Anybody have advice on cerazette?

Hi guys,

I had a baby four months ago. At my 8 week check I decided with my gp to start taking cerazette. I felt ok for probably the first month of taking it but that completely changed. I stared cramping a couple weeks back and also feeling extremely nauseous. I've also been feeling very anxious and having bad mood swings. Also absolutely no sex drive, not sure if that's because of the cerazette or because I'm breastfeeding. Does anybody have any experience with this pill? Shall I stop taking it and try something else? X

I was on it for about 14years after the birth of my youngest DS. I loved it, no periods, no PMS, no weight gain and no change to libido. Might be worth sticking with it for a bit longer, but you should probably speak to a Health professional as I'm sure it won't agree with everyone. Some of my friends rave about the Merina0(sp?) Coil, might that be an option for you?

I'm confused because the first month I was taking it i felt absolutely fine then they all just came after around 5 weeks. For me the nausea is the worst bit. I find it quite hard to deal with my baby and toddler when I'm feeling that sick.

Hi Hun I've been on cerezette for a number of years due to previous high blood pressure. I like it because I don't have any periods but I do find I have bad moods and not much sex drive but then again we are both wore out at the end of the day with an 19 month old little boy. There isn't really any other contraception I want to go on so I'm just sticking with it x

I know this is an older thread but OP did your nausea ever resolve itself? Also breastfeeding so unable to take the combined pill! All pregnancy tests are negative, it’s just making me feel dreadful

I've been taking it for nearly two months after a long break (10 years) I had the copper coil instead. That's now removed and I'm on cerazette.

I've always had a high sex drive, but good grief, I've never been so horny! It's died down a bit now though. I also started bleeding lightly about two weeks ago and still bleeding. Not sure it's going to work for me (the bleeding, the extra sex is brilliant!)

My Husband was pursuing a vasectomy before lockdown - the sooner that is back on the better!

No it never did go away and I had to stop taking it. When I stopped taking it the nausea stopped straight away Aswell as the anxiety. We just have to be extra safe now because I'm not taking anything and still breastfeeding x
