Experiences of stopping desigestral mini pill after 3 months? (cerelle/cerazette)

Just looking for advice/people's experiences coming off of desogestral.

I was put on it in an effort to stop ovulation due to 2 years of extremely large ovarian cysts (I'm aware it's not the best for stopping ovulation, more on that later). Been on it just over 3 months - started on first day of period which dragged out a couple days longer, 2nd month was on/off spotting, 3rd month heading in to 4th was non stop spotting/light period all day every day for 21 days, which was when I decided to stop taking it.

On top of the bleeding, the pharmacist gave me a different named pill (originally given cerelle, next set of packets were cerazette). I know they say there's no difference but within 5 days of taking the cerazette I became extremely depressed, feelings that have disappeared on stopping.

So I'm basically wanting to hear your experience of coming off of desogestral, especially if you were only on it for a short time. I'm 2 days off and still spotting (light-medium heaviness) with some cramping. Not concerned just wondering if I should be expecting this to stop soon, will it go in to a full period?

I did try to get in to see my nurse however she doesn't work Fridays and while she is great, her answers to most questions regarding this pill have been 'how long is a piece of string?' since it won't effect people the same.

As for the cysts I have done more research in to the combination pill. I was told by several doctors I couldn't have it due to migraines however I have read a lot about that only being true if you also get migraine aura which I do not. Has anyone successfully convinced a Dr to give them the combi pill when they were originally refused it?

Thanks and sorry this went on so long Smile

I stopped cerazette after nearly a year on it. It messed up my cycle and gave me 10 day periods that were unpredictable. I was also a hormonal mess that I didn't realise just how much until I stopped it. I will never take it again due to what it did to me. It made me nuts. Can't help on the bleeding as I had the implant put in and took cerazette for 7 days after the implant was inserted. My period started 10 days later and I'm having even more of a nightmare with the bleeding than I did on the pill!

Oh, my mood swings and sore boobs stopped instantly. Coming off it was the best thing.

Yeah the progestrone only was definitely not a good fit. Hadn't even noticed the sore boobs had gone but you're right. The depression lifted quickly though I now feel like i did going on it, i can tell my hormone levels are adjusting. Unfortunately i suffer from bad PMT which I hadn't had for 2 months on this pill. Not enough to make it worth it though
