Mirena coil and excruciating period pains

I had the Mirena coil fitted around 2 years ago and everything has been as it should be, except for the last 3-4 months. I have had the most excruciatingly painful period pains and I suffered from bad ovulation pains this month. I’ve never really suffered from period pains before so this just doesn’t seem ‘normal’ to me.

Has anyone else suffered this side effect?

I've had similar. I found that I do get alot more period pains/cramping with the coil. I'm on my 2nd and I've definitely had more with this one.
It's not every month but ide say one in three.

I literally came on to post about this. this is my first period since I got it fitted, it’s lasted 3 weeks so far and real bad cramping... no abdominal pain so I don’t think it’s an infection but really putting me off!!

Only in the first few months after having it fitted. I don't get any pain at all now although I know it can make cramps worse in some women.

If anything has changed I'd go and see your GP.
