Hi all,

I took the morning after pill this cycle. My period was due last Monday and I still have not come on! Has anyone else had this before?

Have you donw a pregnancy test?

ChangingStates · 27/02/2019 06:13

Did you bleed after taking the map? It can affect your cycle so probably not a pregnancy but best to do a test to be sure.

MaverickSnoopy · 27/02/2019 06:37

MAP can really mess with your cycle. Agree that you should take a test to be on the safe side.

TomSmitten · 27/02/2019 06:42

I did. Turned out it hadn't worked, I was pregnant. Unfortunately it was ectopic and ruptured around the 7.5 or 8 week mark, leading to emergency surgery. MAP is not 100% effective even if taken quickly (which I did). You should definitely take a test to check.

I feel bloated and have minimal stomach cramps so I feel like I'm going to come on, but it's felt like that for a few days. I'm going to get a test this morning!

I know two people who took the MAP and it didn't work...

Having said that, it can really mess your cycle up because of the high level of hormones it introduces into your system.

Good idea to get a pregnancy test just to be sure.

I was still pregnant with my oldest son even after taking the morning after pill so it is possible

DuvetCaterpillar · 27/02/2019 08:46

Hi Jamielyn, please do take a test and find out. I've literally just had an ectopic pregnancy as well this week, and the symptoms of my pregnancy were bloating and the mildest twinges, far less than on my period, but if I hadn't known I was pregnant, there would have been a delay in diagnosing what was potentially a really serious threat to my own health. If you're pregnant, you can decide what you want to do about it later, but you do need to know ASAP to protect your own health. Virtual handholding always available here!

Jamielyn · 27/02/2019 10:08

@DuvetCaterpillar I'm sorry to hear that! must of been really had for you. I hope you're feeling better now?

I've just taken a pregnancy test, came back negative. I didn't think taking the MAP would make my period 9 days late!

Thanks Jamielyn, that's kind of you to say. I'm OK at the moment, still a bit up and down as it was very much wanted, but we'll get there in time.

Odd that it's come back negative - maybe pop in and have a chat with your pharmacist who prescribed you the MAP? They're a great source of advice, especially if you can't get into your GP - very unlikely to be anything sinister, but worth getting some qualified advice just in case.

All the best!
