Impact of hormonal contraception for irregular sex

My DH and I don’t have sex very often for various reasons - perhaps once every couple of months. I have gained a lot of weight since being on the Mirena coil (I’m not saying it’s entirely to blame, just a fact. I also started ADs at the same time which didn’t help). I love not having proper periods though. But it’s a lot of hormones and potential side effects l for sex 6 times a year, isn’t it? But perhaps if we have to stop and find a condom, it will be the final nail in the coffin for our sex drive? Oh, I’m so undecided - any thoughts anyone?

It's probably the hormones affecting you. Come off the coil and just track your cycles. I've used natural cycles for 14months now, best thing I've done.

I personally would stop the hormones. It’s very possible that the depression and weight loss and clear thinking that you get from coming off the pill might result in slightly more sex (long shot I know, but keeping hormonal contraception when it’s negatively impacting you and your DH isn’t seeking help for his own sex-drive issues is crazy).

Could you swap to the copper coil? I chose it as can't do hormones anymore and felt my old self again fairly quickly. Felt more clear headed, happier and calmer again.
No weight gain but an extra day longer period wise but really glad I chose it.
Don't suppose your husband would consider a vasectomy at all to save you the hassle?
