6months on Mirena - still having periods

Hi all,

I had my Mirena coil fitted 6months ago, 4 months postpartum. I’m still having regular periods, Will this end?? Or am I just one of the ‘unlucky’ ones where it doesn’t stop your period. Prior to my 2 DD I was on the depo injection and had no periods for 6 years and no symptoms...

I’m still getting mid cycle cramping, discomfort after sex, heavy (but healthy) discharge and just a bit fed up tbh after so many years of not experiencing this. I can feel the strings (most of the time) but the uncomfortable and cramping after sex (for like a day or so..) is this ‘normal’?

Mine stopped after 2 years then eventually returned. The strings soften with time.

I had the mirena for about 4 years . Didn’t stop my periods and I also felt more emotionally low around time of my period . Got it taken out. Was very frustrating !

Mine stopped, but took longer than 6m IIRC. Had some spotting randomly after that too. Now on my second Mirena and was worried would have problems with new one, but nothing. Cramping- no, but was fitted 2 years post-partum as I had very unsuccessful implant first.
