Does anyone have experience with natural methods of conception like temping and ovulation sticks?

Usually I have a 28 to 32 day cycle with 29 on average. I feel cramps and PMS like symptoms mid way in my cycle and I take this as ovulation. When I'm nearing the mid way mark in my cycle, condoms are used with my partner. So far so good. This cycle though, I had 38 day cycle which is very unusual for me and 10 days late.

The pill is out of the question for me because I know myself I will be skipping days. I read that there is an implant that lasts for three years but that's out for me too because of my age in case I decide to go down the route of having a baby in a year or two. I read some horror stories of the coil.

I'm considering natural methods. Condoms are already used. So that's something. I'm considering temping and ovulation sticks to pin point ovulation. I also ready about a fertility monitor. Its probably predominantly used by those trying to conceive.

Any experiences?

I think you mean contraception rather than conception. I haven't, but have you considered the patch? It is a sticker you put on your bum or thigh and change once a week. It is hormonal but stops working when you stop taking it.

I'm not sure that the natural methods will be effective for you if you are starting to have irregular cycles. Are you sure you're not currently pregnant?

Thanks for your reply. Thanks for pointing out that error. You're right I meant contraception.

I never knew about a patch but that would be ideal and probably the best for me. I'll read up about it and discuss with my GP.

My cycles were like clockwork until recently. They started stretching out a bit earlier in the year. I had a lot of major stresses in my life and put it down to stress. This is the first cycle I went into a 38 day cycle and 10 days late. I tested with home pregnancy tests, three times all came up negative. Then my period came today. Although I have my period today, it's a bit off. The colour is different and it's lighter but it's there nonetheless.

Stress can delay ovulation which will then lengthen your cycle - it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with you becoming irregular. I've been using the Natural Cycles app for 2 and a half years and I find it brilliant. I'm not sure I'd be confident enough to just temp and track ovulation with just a pencil and graph paper (but people do!). I do think it's a shame that most women don't understand how their bodies work - for me, that's been the best part of using the app!

Natural cycles! I'm in my 15th cycle of using it and it's great. I'm relatively regular, 24-26 days which helps, not sure how good it'd be for more irregular cycles.
