Coil in for 4 months - too soon to give up?

Hi everyone

I've had my coil in for 4 months now and I'm not liking it at all.

I feel permanently pre-menstrual. My boobs feel heavy and sore like I'm in the first stages of pregnancy (so much so that I've done a few pregnancy tests!)

I have constant spotting, that sometimes gets heavy with no warning and then I bleed quite heavily for a few days. Whenever I have this, I bleed enough to soak through my underwear and clothes, and as it comes with no warning I tend to wear a pad 24/7 now!

Then it all stops but I have a bit of bloody discharge (sorry)

I am also really spotty on my chin (I've never been spotty!).

When I have a period, it's heavy and painful.

Is 4 months too soon to give up with it? I hate how it is making me feel

Is it the copper coil or mirena?

LEMtheoriginal · 09/10/2018 22:10

I bet its a mirena

Hi, yes it's the mirena

So sorry to read this. I haven’t had a mirena but the friends who’ve had them have either had success pretty fast or similar experiences to you. Out ASAP. Your dr will be really hard to persuade as they are expensive but your health & quality of life are very important.

I can't help with the coil but I had a similar experience with the implant and the doctor would not remove it until I begged him. A year with a constant spotting and bleeding and he's still saying you've got to let it settle!!

OP if you don't like it then I would ask your local family planning clinic if they will remove it, if the doctor won't.
