Is there any form of contraception that stops periods?

As the title really.

Is there any form of contraception, short or long term, that effectively stops periods?

Currently pregnant with #3 and have absolutely no intention of having any more so open to permanent methods also.

Have always struggled with my periods, they are heavy, painful and I get horrendous PMT.

I've heard the copper coil can stop them? Is this accurate? Anyone have any experience?

Cerazette (mini pill) seems to have stopped mine. It didn't the first time I was on it (before kids), but after having DD I went back on it, and haven't had a period since.

I've not had a period on Cerazette/Cerelle for years either.

Cezarette stopped mine but just be careful if you start to get symptoms of menopause on it because it contains no estrogen so can cause low estrogen symptoms. I had to go back on the combined pill because cezarette turned off my estrogen completely and long term that isn’t good (for your bones and heart). I am under an endocrinologist for thyroid and Addison’s disease and they tested me for estrogen issues as I kept saying I still felt awful despite other meds etc being fine.

A friend of mine has just gone on the Mirena and she says it’s amazing, she hasn’t had a period in months. I’m sorely tempted for that alone, sounds like bliss.

Wow! Wasn't expecting such a huge response. Thanks for all the replies!

Looks like cerazette or mirena coil could be the main contenders then! I will look into both.

I have been on Marvelon for years and that has been the only form of contraception I've ever used but am happy to change for something that may stop my periods!
