Anxiety/depression linked to period - which contraceptive?

I’ve finally figured out my anxiety is linked to my hormones and I find myself on a monthly turnaround of getting more and more anxious the closer I get to my period.

I had a horrible time with the depo injection, felt like I was having a nervous breakdown. I can’t take the pill due to family medical history. Currently using condoms but they don’t feel safe enough.

What do you think the best contraception would be that won’t send me insane?

I figured out the same thing after I had to stop taking propranolol and found my anxiety went through the roof just before my period.

I'm trying the Mirena, only been four weeks though so still waiting to see if it suits me or not. I chose it because I can't take the combined pill and the mini pill made me crazy (cerazette) or very low and flat (others I tried).

I have other symptoms I'm hoping it will help with as well - irregular periods, with wild variations in how heavy they are, breast pain and recurrent thrush. My GP certainly thought it was worth trying.

The only thing I found that works is natural cycles as it’s hormone free.
My periods are predictable and I have got to know my body so well and feel really positivd about sex
I had tried 12 pills, Depo and had a copper coil all with awful side effects
I know it’s not for everyone but I’ve got a discount code refer a friend thingy if that’s something you’re interested in:
