Hello I was looking for a bit of advice. 2 moths ago I had the copper IUD removed due to excruciating period pain leaving me sick from work during the time of the month and in the middle of the month. Then my periods became erratic or missed, even sometimes over 19 days late and when they did arrive they were over 6 days and using a tampon and a pad together changing every hour. I went to my doctors and she advised to remove it however not to use any other form of contraception for 3 mnths and track my periods to make sure the IUD was the cause.

So the first month was a breeze compared to the usual mild pain but bearable but 10 days early and a 6 day period which is ok but (sorry tmi) no where as much blood as usual. Then this month arrived and my period was again 10 days early lasted the usual 5 days and then stopped. Then the next day I had sex with my partner (contraception used) and 2 days later I started heavily spotting since then (so basically I had a 3 day break from my period) I've continues to spot heavily with bright red discharge still to now which is 6 days later (so sorry about the tmi) . We has sex again this week and the pain was unbareable. I collapsed in the bathroom and cried for hours the pain lasted a good 13 hrs. Ive had a daughter and I have to say the pain wasn't half close to pre-labour pains . I feel sick with worry and I have no idea whats going on. I've suffered with stomach cramps since I was 11 to the point they were making be physically sick I don't know how much more I can take of this. Its ruining my life . This is the first doctor to ever take me seriously Ive had ultrasounds last year but nothing has shown but the pain and periods are much worse now than ever before I have an appointment Tuesday with the same Doc but I have no-one to talk to as everyone (family/friends) just puts it down to PMS . I had a 36 hr labour with no pain meds I can handle pms. Am I alone ?

Don’t want to leave you unanswered, so sorry that sounds really tough. Hope Dr can give you some answers or people on here can Smile

Oh that sounds grim. You definitely need your GP to refer you to a gynaecologist and asap. No one should expect to put up with this level of pain.

I had some of the symptoms similiar to you op, erratic bleeding and painful sex, turns out I had Cervical ectropion and had to get it cauterised. Not the most pleasant thing, especially since i was pregnant at the time. Have you been referred to or seen a gynae yet?

marvelmummy13 · 29/01/2018 23:05

Thank you toldmywrath

Not yet to begin she took out my coil and asked me to keep a diary of anything concerning which I have done. I'll see how tomorrow goes and hopefully we'll get somewhere fingers crossed

Marvel mummy, glad you're being taken seriously and having some investigations. Fingers crossed that you can get some relief from the awful symptoms you're experiencing.
