Is it normal to still get period cramps when on Norethisterone?

Hi,

Currently on holiday and I've been taking norethisterone 3x a day five days prior to my period date. My period is due right about now and it shouldn't come due to the tablets. However, I'm still getting period pains! does this mean the tablet isn't working? Is this a known side effect?
