Cerazette not settling, freaked by coil, want baby 2016, WWYD?

Hi everyone,

I was on OCP since 16 and apart from thrush a lot, suited me fine, loved control over bleeding. I will admit that I was calmer and happier pregnant and off it for two years though.

Locum GP then decided I was too old and too fat to continue it at 39.

Moved to Cerazette at end of Oct. Very few bleeding-free days since, skin gone to pot, mood swings, fainting spells even more thrush - but I have lost weight.

Want to give it a chance and had few normals weeks recently - thought it was settling - but now back 10 days plus bleeding with bad cramps and backache.

Everyone says move to coil but am terrified of more bleeding, hair loss, weight gain, acne.

Also, newish partner and I are discussing TTC in coming year so with my age, I don't want to delay fertility returning too long. Not happy to use condoms either, both her and I have kids from previous relationships to show for them!

What would you do? Would love to hear your stories or thoughts, thanks!

you could try a different mini pill and see if it suits better. There are another 2 or 3 with different active ingredients that may cause you fewer side effects.

If you want to TTC soonish then I wouldn't get one of the longer acting ones (coil, implant, injection) - I especially wouldnt recommend the depo injection as it can take up to a year or more for fertility to return after stopping it.

Thanks dementedpixie,

Having had a real dip in mood this weekend and realising that I have been that way for months, I cannot live with this horrible pill any longer, so I went to doc. Coil consult next week...

Hope that works out OK!
