Anyone requested a new Mirena coil "early"? Or other suggestions?

I'm very happy with my Mirena. It stopped my periods and all related PMS symptoms completely, with no noticeable side effects. It still has just under 2 years left before it "runs out".
Over the last 3-4 months I've had some very light bleeding, not very often. That is not really causing any problems. But I've also had a return to the regular headaches (with slight nausea) which I always used to get and which I think are hormonal. These had also completely stopped for the last few years.

I'm considering visiting the GP to see if I could have a new Mirena earlier than scheduled. Do you think it's likely that they will? Or does anyone have any other suggestions about managing the headaches?

In the interests of completeness, I do also get migraines, though not very frequently. I'm concerned the frequency may increase along with the "normal" headaches.

I too am a Mirena fan - am on my second and it is a blessing not to have any periods. I would go to your GP with concerns that you may be able to conceive and take it from there - don't actually ask for a new one put the responsibility onto them and see what happens... They have extended the expected 'life' of the Mirena over the years it has been used it was 4 yrs when I had my first and is now 5 yrs according to the NHS website.

All the best!
