Ok i have just had this rather weird conversation with my mother and she finished being on the change at 42,i went on the pill a few years ago because my periods went up the wall, anyway talking to her as i am 42 she said i could have delayed it (as they say it can be heredatory) do you think this is possible?

I think we would all be on the pill if it stopped or delayed the menopause.

42 is very early, so maybe your mother was unlucky and you will be nearer 50 when you have yours.

As far as I know it won't stop you or delay menopause.

However it may mask it- as in you'll keep having a bleed every month because of the hormone withdrawal. The pill will keep your periods artificially regular.

Early menopause can be hereditary. You could visit your gp if you're worried.
