Hey,
I'm new here, first post and all (wahoo!)
I had the Mirena put in 6months ago after a MC in January, and my daughter is now 17months, no more pregnancies for me for a while! As soon as I got it I was very irritated down below and keep having bouts of thrush, about once a month! Blush And uncomfy when I wee, that soon clears up with meds. I have the same partner still. Recently I've been getting sick without any warning, and constantly exhausted Hmm ?! Breasts are so sore, I can't sleep without a bra let alone have my OH touch them! Is this normal? I'm not due my period for 2 and a half weeks still, I'm having the coil out next week (can't wait) hope all the problems go away! Anyone else had the same problems? Thank you in advance ladies Flowers xx

I did have problems which I associated with the mirena...not really sure as it turned out that I had a fibroid, and some of the problems have persisted since my operation to have that removed. I don't think they will remove your coil if there is any chance you are pregnant. It's unlikely but you should tell them about your symptoms. Its difficult because Mirena can make periods absent or erratic. Hope it goes OK.

they would attempt to remove the mirena if you are pregnant as the hormones in the coil would harm the growing baby. I do get sore nipples with mirena but dont have regular periods so couldnt say when one was ever due.

from mirena website:

Mirena is one of the most effective birth control options, however, over the course of 5 years, fewer than 8 in 1,000 women (0.8%) become pregnant while using Mirena. One risk of becoming pregnant while using Mirena is called ectopic pregnancy, when the pregnancy is not in the uterus. It may occur in the fallopian tubes. Signs of ectopic pregnancy may include unusual bleeding or abdominal pain. Ectopic pregnancy is an emergency that requires immediate medical attention and often surgery. Ectopic pregnancy can cause internal bleeding, infertility and even death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you think that you're pregnant.

There are also risks if you become pregnant while using Mirena and the pregnancy is in the uterus. Severe infection, miscarriage, premature delivery and even death can occur with pregnancies that continue with an intrauterine device (IUD). Because of this, your healthcare provider may try to remove Mirena, even though removing it may cause a miscarriage. If Mirena cannot be removed, talk with your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of continuing the pregnancy.
