Would I have noticed my copper coil coming out?

I've had a copper iud for just over a year, always been able to find the threads fairly easily. I've just had the period from hell (was very late and then catastrophically heavy for a week) and I'm about CD13 or so, have been spotting, and thought I would check for the threads, you know, as you do every so often. Can't feel them, but that doesn't mean it's not still there of course. I use a mooncup, have for donkeys, but I think I'd notice an IUD in it if it pulled it out.

Has anyone lost theirs and not noticed it coming out? Don't really want to have to go and have it checked out, but also don't want to be pregnant right this minute. I know it was still there in May as I had an ultrasound for something else, but I guess the biblical period I just had could have pushed it out... Confused

I believe they can come out disguised in large clots, so it's a possibility I guess.

It happened to my sister. She ended up having to be x-rayed to see if it was still there and it wasn't. She hadn't noticed it coming out.

I've had the copped coil fitted twice, and both times it has come out without my knowing so. Sometimes it can come out in a heavy period, or it can move further up than it should therefore you cannot feel your threads. However, it's very unlikely you will know when it's come
