Is the Mirena Coil destroying my relationship?

Me and my OH have been together got 7 years and have been very happy. We have a 12 month old who we adore! 9 months ago I had the Coil fitted, since then things between me and my OH have been a nightmare. I have become so moody, emotional and some days depressed and take it all out on my OH. I use to be a really easy going person. The main thing that has affected our relationship is our sex life (lack of it). We hardly ever have sex, I never feel in the mood for it and the thought of having it really turns my stomach :(. I feel so sorry for my OH because he has been so patient with me. The only thing I can put this down to is having the Coil fitted, because I only started feeling like this since I had it fitted. Has anyone experienced this or is it just me?

If you do a mumsnet search for Mirena you will find a LOT of people with the same problem, it does seem quite common I'm afraid. I had one taken out after a year of chronic thrush, no sex drive and bouts of anger I can't quite believe looking back - I felt like me again almost straight away. Would never go back to hormonal contraception despite hideous periods.

I was very hormonal when I first had mine fitted. It took about a year overall for my hormones to settle down and return to a normal sane person Grin. I have had no issues since though.
