I want to get my copper coil removed asap and don't want to turn up at the GPs and be told to come back in a few weeks!

TIA Smile

Yes, I think you do.

If you have a date to have it removed, you need to use protection for 7 days before hand if I remember rightly Smile

I reckon you wouldn't need to be on. Some women don't have periods on the mirena so how would they have it taken out? I'd say ask when you make the appointment, if they receptionist doesn't know they could have the doctor or nurse call you back.

Thanks for the replies; it seems opinion is divided! I'll phone and ask...I was trying to avoid discussing periods with the receptionist Smile

You don't have to, but it can make removal easier as the cervix is slightly more 'open'.

It can also help when starting a new contraception, especially hormonal contraception.

nope you don't. Had mine removed this evening....ouch!
